Andrew Johnson's Impeachment

Impeachment is a topic a lot of people are talking about lately. When people think about impeachment, they always think of it as federal official being removed from power or office physically, while in reality it really means that federal official that is in power has committed a crime and that person may or may not face the consequences if they resigned before the process of impeachment is final or if they did not get the maximum vote they need to be impeached.  As it formally states in an article on independent.co.uk, "the term 'impeachment' is sometimes

Impeaching a federal official goes through a lot of process and takes a while before that official can actually be impeached. for the process to start, support is required from both US legislative branch, it first begin in the House of representatives as the main function of the House is to provide oversight to the federal government. If the house impose on the charges against the president or any federal official, the House can then introduce an impeachment resolution. If or when the resolution passed, the committee on the judiciary which oversees the activities of the US executive branch determines whether or not to move forward with the impeachment. An Chief justice of the Supreme Court is required to preside over the trial of the president and swear to remain impartial in the judgement, when the trial is over a two-third majority vote is required from the senate to remove the president or official from office.

Although,  no president has yet to be impeached, there were some who came close to being impeached by the House of Representatives. The first impeachment begin with Andrew Johnson who was the vice-president during the time Lincoln was president, next was Bill Clinton, and now our current president Donald Trump is facing impeachment. All those president were facing impeachment fro different reason.

One of the president were going to talk about and that was almost impeached is president Andrew Johnson. He was the vice president then later became president after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Johnson was democrat who strongly believed in slavery but the republicans did not support that. Later during is presidency Johnson broke of the act which was the Tenure of office act by removing Edwin Stanton out of office, who was the secretary of war,  the Tenure Act states that no president could not dismiss appointed officials without the consent of Congress.

Most people are happy when they hear that a federal official or the president is being impeached but what they don't get is that more needs to happen before the official can be impeached. They need to find evidence and witness and a majority needs to be made by senate so the president can be removed from office but as long as the process is moving forward the president still remain in office.
